bj2004 Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 Hi Allmy hand brake went t*** up last week even full on wouldnt hold on slight incline but it seems to be recovering 5 clicks and it holds on hill is there an auto adjuster on it ? Quote
sparky Paul Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) Auto adjuster in each caliper, and manual adjustment on the centre cable. Sometimes, the handbrake cable levers stiffen up on the calipers and don't fully retract, interfering with the auto adjustment. Release the handbrake and free the levers off with lube. Make sure the handrake levers are fully retracted... then, without applying handbrake, press the footbrake firmly several times to take up any adjustment in the calipers. Nige F Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 Had this problem a while back. Spent ages adjusting freeing and messing with caliper. Turned out it was the cable seizing up. Easy replacement solved the problem Quote
seatkid Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) I agree it sounds as if one of the cables to one side has gone - the illusion of it starting to work is probably just holding on one disc. Edited May 2, 2011 by seatkid Quote
