hi to all members just joined the forum HOPE YOU CAN HELP BEEN READING AS MUCH AS I CAN BUT DECIDE TO JOIN AND POST.....

 

syptoms: 1st rad was leaking slightly

then heaters getting colder and only blowing cold now

now overheating

there is no return water to the header tank???? thought water water pump failure but wasnt

fans not kicking in ????

 

 

got my brother as hes a mechanic on peugeot an citroen an now hes conviced head.....

he replaced my water pump and rad at the same time, as he thought end of the water pump had fallen off but all ok

the thermo is working as it should

 

any other areas he should check before pulling the head off???

 

also how hard is it to do the head gasget?

 

could it be done on axle stands?

hi auy 115, im a newbie too, had to join to get info on my latest prob.

i hav same engine code as u (auy), and had same trouble as you,bout 6 months ago. checked everything, and eventually told it more than likely da head was gone, which it was, eventually got it all sorted, thank god

 

latest thing is power is gone, can barely get up slight hill. have changed fuel filter, cleaned boost valve, tried new air flow meter, my machanic is sure turbo is ok, so what else could it be?????????? im no mechanic so not sure of ins n outs, but any ideas welcome, love the car, have 3 kids and 1 on da way, and don't want to change it

aww was it :rolleyes: did u have the head skimmed or pressure tested????

how much was the total cost to get tha done?

 

with regards to your fault now any lights come on ???

have you had the codes read???

if no lights id be looking at mayb egr valave or summin :(

has it been happening since you had it back....or a while after ???

as im living in ireland, cost of parts prob lot more :rolleyes: i think mechanic just got second hand head, got it skimmed as it was pressure tested already, got new gasket set, head bolts, t/belt and water pump.might hav been few small other bits, but can't remember.all in all, i think it came to round 1400 euro :(

it only happened 5 days ago, but think im just not meant to hav car wit vag engine. last car was passat est, had same prob, so got rid of it for galaxy, so didn't get to find out prob

had codes read, so mechanic got new air flow meter, but no good.

had exact problem with mine, also had no return flow to the header tank. Problem was found to be blocked one way bleed valve which is in the small return to header hose, this gets blocked and causes those symptoms. also check thermostat is opening fully.

hi thanx for the reply have you got a pic of the 1 way valve you were talking about as the only 1s i can see of the return hose is 1 is a 3 way t piece the other is a four way plastic housing :S

(1) Check MAF is connected fully

 

(2) Block the AGR vacuum pipe

 

System should reset after switching off and then on so fault may seem to have cleared.
