chipgibson2004 Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 HiI have a 2.8 galaxy 1999, it is automatic and the button to press in to change gear is stuck. When the engine is off the button and gears work. When I turn the key it locks in Park and Neutral. I have managed to overide this by disconnecting a sensor at the bottom of the gear stick. It now works fine but I was wanderering what the sensor is for. It is a small box with a rod sticking up. When the rod is up it blocks the car in Park. I can manually move it with my hand. Any help would be gratfully appreciated as I dont know what it does and do I need to replace it. Thanks in advanceChip Quote

Thanks in advanceChip Try pressing the brake that will free the pin ! it is a safety feature to stop you knocking it in gear :)i.e. press brake pin unlocks handle and with the brake still pressed move to drivesimples regards Edited May 7, 2011 by Amarok Quote
