Attomicbomb Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Hi this is my 1st post ever so bear with me on this please. I have a ford galaxy Mk1 V reg 1.9TDi The problem i'm facing like so many others is loss of power. Many months ago when driving the car it was fine. Then one day i was driving the car hard and when it got to aprox 70 Mph it felt as if the engine was been resrticted. you turn off and on again then it was fine. It slowly over the next few months got worse. Since i drive cars hard i need constant power and this became irratating. Unfortunetly a few months ago the gear selector cables went on me. I bodged them so i could keep going. like normal a bodge only works for so long. I ended up replacing the gear selector cables. I ended up moving lost of things out of the way including fuel filter, plastics under water header bottle and a few wires. when I started the car up i was getting the glow coil on the dash lighting up.I check the glow plugs with a meter and there ok, checked the wire going to it, fine. I did some research online and many people have this problem and did some checks:- brake lights, had 2 out and replace, brake switch seems fine but not tested,Cruise control stoped working, dont use it anyway. Found out its in that stupid limp home mode ( why ford couldnt put another dash light in beats me) I pluged in my tester and got this 17655-035 KWP1281 Needle Lift Sensor(G80): open or Shortto Plus : P1247 Static - No The engine on reving was fine upto about 3,000 rpm then stugles like before ( not Driving at this point, sat still on Drive ) it will go up to about 5,000 rpm but really struggles. Sent it to a diesel specialist as i had put my back out working on gear cables. They tested it and said it was No 3 injector and was reading 108 ohms. Since then i have replace the No3 injector the advance one with the sensor. ( if you do this you MUST replace the washer or you get leaking around injector) I cleard all error codes from the system and started car. I instantly noticed the rev range was good again. Also at this point i have put a tried and tested engine and injector cleaner in the fuel and increased engine running and felt like it had alot more power again. Downside after i had left it for 5 min was the limp home mode light cam on again. but revs are fine. i thought it might just want a blast out then i will re start again. did that and restarted engine about 8 times. It still lacks power but not as much as before and light still going. I have cleared codes and disconected battery for 15 min. Then started up, Rev range even better but still lack of power and still getting error 17655. I'm running out of ideas. Next thing i will check is for leakes on pipes but they look ok, bit frayed but still ok. I will try check connectors but not easy on this car. Any help would be much apreciated. Please dont use acronims as many people dont understand. Tom Quote
Attomicbomb Posted April 19, 2011 Author Report Posted April 19, 2011 Also Can anyone tell me the correct size fuel pipes for the injectors. Might just be worth replacing them all. Quote
