Nick GSXR Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Hi I hope someone can point me in the right direction. My wife has a 2004 Ford Galaxy. It has a Blaupunkt SAT NAV and Radio in it. A couple of weeks ago the unit came up asking for the radio code, I put the code in for her and it now says "Safe pin not Connected". Also the clock has stopped working and when put into reverse the parking sensors constantly beep for around 10 seconds then stops. I have looked at all the fuses to the left of the steering wheel with an electrical tester; testing both side of the fuse with them in place they are all ok. Also I found a couple of fuses by the battery and they are OK. I have just had a new clutch fitted and I thought it may be possible something has been dislodged but when speaking to the garage they were less than helpful. I also checked the wiring under the passenger seat as I found a thread about parking sensors being faulty but everything seems fine but I haven Quote
Mirez Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Hi Nick, "safe pin" indicates it has no power on that connector - I would say you have a fuse blown for sure. Testing in circuit won't prove if the fuse is good or bad you MUST remove them to test - I cant look up fuse numbers just at the moment but pay special attention to the column of micro fuses above, and to the left of the two main rows in that box. The parking sensors are likely to be an unhappy coincedence :o Quote
Nick GSXR Posted April 19, 2011 Author Report Posted April 19, 2011 Thanks for that I'll pull all the fuses to check them. Still seems a bit weard to me though stuff breaking at the same time.... Cheers Nick Quote
Mirez Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 Yes I would normally agree, but the sensors are actually a very simple circuit - and if its beeping then it has power (no other fuse) so can only be something defective. Quote
Nick GSXR Posted May 1, 2011 Author Report Posted May 1, 2011 Hi I have been through every fuse, taken them out and checked them, all OK. I have checked the connections at the back of the radio/SAT NAV. There is a little diagram showing the location of the safe pin. I checked this and yes there is no power but there is permanent power the first pin. As a work around I have taken a live from this and via a fused wire link connected it, and the radio now works but I would like to track down the problem. Does anybody know the correct fuse that the safe pin goes through? There are a number of spaces in the fuse box and I would just like to rule out that the fuse hasn't been removed by someone. Also the clock still doesn Quote
John Harry Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 How did you remove the navi. I have a DX navigation and need to remove the radio in order to fix the same problem as you have. The clock in the middle of the dashboard isn't working and my radio is asking for the code each time I start the car, and very often I also get the error safe pin not connected.. Argh... Please advice about fuse number or wire... any ideas are more than welcome /John Quote
