pdaly Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Just had a detachable Whitter Towbar fitted with 13 pin electrics to my MkIII 2007 Galaxy Zetec 2.0tdi. The guy at the garage said that I'd have to have the dedicated wiring harness (trailer module) as this will deactivate the rear fog lights and rear parking sensors when the caravan is hitched. He has confirmed that the car recieved the software update after he fitted the towbar. Car does not have ESP so the software update is not relative to the anti-snake feature. Last week I hitched up the caravan for the first time and tested the electrics - all worked fine except for the rear parking sensors - these are not deactivated. Does anyone else have this issue or is it an issue with wiring on the caravan (it's 2 x 7 pin twin electrics on the caravan, connected to the car via a '13 pin to 2 x 7 pin towbar electric adaptor') Any advice would be appreciated. On a separate note, I can report that the car is very stable towing with the caravan attached. I'd definitely recommend the detachable towbar - the 13 pin socket swivels up under the bumber out of sight when not in use. Quote
