I hear, that on my 4050 eon radio one of the connectors can be used to mute the radio when receiving a call on my for a hands free set. Does anyone know which piun, and what kind of signal is required?

Can't help with the previous posting but I am shortly to fit a Nokia hands free kit (cark91) to my 1998 Galaxy - not the easiest car to route wires through!. Looking at the back of the 2006R radio, it doesn't seem to have an obvious mute connection (unless it is one of the pins on the 3rd plug-in connector which is not fitted).

Anyone know whether there is a mute facility on the 2006R or where I can find more wiring details on this radio model?. I plan to troll the internet later to see what I can find.

I fitted a full Nokia car kit to my 97 Galaxy. The control unit fits niceley under the cover between the bottom of the dashboard and the floor. I took the feeds off the lower dash board curtosey lights and there are plenty of places to fit earths to. I have wired into the radio to mute the phone. To find out which wire to connect to. remove the radio but leave the radio on. Using a 12v screwdiver type circuit tester, (the type with a bulb in it to act as a resistor), connect on end to earth and then test each connection until the radio goes off. connect the yellow wire from the phone kit to this connection. Please make sure that the bulb is working on the cicuit tester otherwise it will blow the radio.

For info, I didn't bother connecting the ignition feed. Having previous experience of this, it only switches the phone off after the keys are removed after a few minutes and can be a pain, unless you intend to leave the phone in the car

Thanks Nige F for the above. I will experiment to determine the mute connection. I was thinking of taking the power feeds from the cigar lighter connections (nice and local to the radio). Out of interest, where did you fix the speaker - is there something nice and solid to screw into in the passenger footwell? - Kevin.

I screwed the speaker bracket to the screw that holds the trim panel in the passenger footwell. It keeps it out of the way and is far enough away from the mic to stop feed back.

For info there is also a no drill bracket on the market from a company called Smart. I had a bit of a job locating one but it clips into the dash on the passenger side and makes a neat job without drilling the dash etc. Your local phone shop might be able to help with the supply of one.

Nige - sorry for the long time in tying up this subject. I have now also successfully fitted a Nokia CARK-91 hands free kit to my Galaxy and it works a treat. ;) Just a word of warning to anyone - make sure you have the correct antenna! I used an on-glass one from Panorama Antennas of London (see their web site, very informative) but initially I got the wrong one (note that Orange phones are on 1800MHz whereas Vodafone & O2 are on 900MHz). The technical man at Panorama was extremely helpful and even did me a good deal on the correct antenna. I thoroughly recommend Panorama - an excellent and British company.

Now for anyone that wants it, the following is the mute connection on a 2006R radio (the radio shuts down and says "phone" on the LCD display).

I have just fitted CARK 132 to my Galaxy and have tried to find the radio mute connection on my 5000RDS radio without success. I have tried connection each wire to earth with a 12V tester as suggested in an earlier post without success.

Can anyone point me in the right direction in finding which wire/pin in the radio mute on an 5000RDS radio?

Thanks
