edatelder Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 1.9 Ghia trim TDi every time. More economical, more torque. 2.8V6 does 20mpg. 1.8 in Sharan and 2.0 in Gal underpowered. They say 2.3 is OK. Quote
sparky Paul Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 Another vote for diesel, best interior spec you can find. 2.3 is nice to drive, but mid to high 20s mpg knocking about, 30mpg if you are very feather footed. 35mpg is the norm on a run. The best I've ever achieved is about 38mpg on a very steady, careful drive... but nudge the speed much over 70mph and mpg suffers badly. Diesel will easily do 40mpg plus without trying, more on a run. Official figures say approx. 50% more mpg out of the diesel over the 2.3 petrol, so as a rough guide you would expect to use 2/3 the fuel in the diesel. Quote

Mine is 1.9 TDi(115) Ghia, just went from Home to Glasgow at 70mph on speedo using cruise, 471 miles on 3 quarters of a tank! Trip computer was displaying 54 mpg, had radio on, rear dvd screens and blowers on all the way, if I did 60mph, I'm sure i would of used less diesel too. I took six months to find my galaxy, managed to get 2001 1.9 tdi (115) Ghia, with one owner from new with leather and dvd multimedia. Full service history and every receipt! As stated before don't buy the first one, lots of old tanks out there, oh, and I only paid Quote
