Not a big deal, but something in my dash makes regular noises, just like the cackle magpie's make! It's barely audible while driving but sitting in the car with the ignition off, it's quite noticeable!

Siberian filigree hamster? Should I get both girls out looking for one (no boys)?

Que?

I think it may possibly be a real Magpie living in your dashboard, have a look in the glove compartment and offer up some TRILL, if there is a magpie in there he will surely come out for that.

NOT the engine, that's the puzzling bit. What would run, and what sort of noise? Heater fan, additional coolant circulation fan? These would have to be mis-wired to run without the engine on from "cold". The two in-dash storage bins come out fairly easily with the use of the correct Torx drivers if you need to start looking. A torch and small angled mirror also come in handy....maybe a mouse has got inside? (Are we getting back to the cat issue?)

Bless you!

Yes, the noise still occurs even with nothing running. When I'm parked up with the ignition key fully anticlockwise (everything off except the radio) it's there, every 5-10 minutes, I think it's mocking me! :D

Are you sure its in the car and not under the bonnet? it could be the coolant after run pump kicking in?

when it happens try pulling a few fuses and see if it stops! then trace the items the fuses power to see if they are the cause?

Are you sure it is not the mini fan in the climate control panel that sucks in air to measure it? That is a well known Ford fault.
