Denis Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 Not a big deal, but something in my dash makes regular noises, just like the cackle magpie's make! It's barely audible while driving but sitting in the car with the ignition off, it's quite noticeable! Quote
Richmond Posted May 14, 2004 Report Posted May 14, 2004 just like the cackle magpie's make! Could be a problem with the cat. Quote
ALARM MAN Posted May 14, 2004 Report Posted May 14, 2004 Your kiddie found his hamster yet ! Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 14, 2004 Report Posted May 14, 2004 Siberian filigree hamster? Should I get both girls out looking for one (no boys)?Que? Quote
ridway Posted May 15, 2004 Report Posted May 15, 2004 Ask a question eh and look what happens. A string of sensible answers Quote
Denis Posted May 15, 2004 Author Report Posted May 15, 2004 Well- I did ask a silly question! :D Quote
Guest Andyjflet Posted May 15, 2004 Report Posted May 15, 2004 I think it may possibly be a real Magpie living in your dashboard, have a look in the glove compartment and offer up some TRILL, if there is a magpie in there he will surely come out for that. Quote
Guest nimrod Posted May 15, 2004 Report Posted May 15, 2004 What do you have running when the noise occurs? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 15, 2004 Report Posted May 15, 2004 NOT the engine, that's the puzzling bit. What would run, and what sort of noise? Heater fan, additional coolant circulation fan? These would have to be mis-wired to run without the engine on from "cold". The two in-dash storage bins come out fairly easily with the use of the correct Torx drivers if you need to start looking. A torch and small angled mirror also come in handy....maybe a mouse has got inside? (Are we getting back to the cat issue?)Bless you! Quote
Denis Posted May 16, 2004 Author Report Posted May 16, 2004 Yes, the noise still occurs even with nothing running. When I'm parked up with the ignition key fully anticlockwise (everything off except the radio) it's there, every 5-10 minutes, I think it's mocking me! :D Quote
Guest nimrod Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 Are you sure its in the car and not under the bonnet? it could be the coolant after run pump kicking in? when it happens try pulling a few fuses and see if it stops! then trace the items the fuses power to see if they are the cause? Quote
MrT Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 Are you sure it is not the mini fan in the climate control panel that sucks in air to measure it? That is a well known Ford fault. Quote
