Autumn Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Hi. I have recently bought a 2002 Ford Galaxy Zetec. It came supplied with 2 keys. One has the open and close buttons for the central locking, (which the previous owners told me doesn't work) and I have another key with no buttons on. The previous owner said to open the car, i'm to use the key with no buttons on it by putting it in the door, then use the key with buttons on it to start it. My questions are:- Would both keys not open the doors manuallyWould both keys not start the ignitionHow do I get the key fob with buttons working remotely? Apologies, I haven't tried messing with either keys as i'm most lieky to set the alarm off and/or lock me in/out of the car! Believe me, my track record isn't good! Thanks, Jo. Quote
smudge110175 Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 (edited) Hi Autumn, As long as the remote fob keys are for the barrels fitted it may be just a matter of reprogramming the remote fobs to the car. If the remote keys dont start the car then you will probably have to replace the keyfobs :angry2:. Have a play around with em because unlocking the doors deactivates the alarm i believe. FLENG Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 get the key that opens the door put it in the lock turn it to the unlock position 3 times and the led in the door will flash then i think you hold the lock button and press unlock 3 timesthis will program the key fob then just put the spare somewhere safe Quote
ggobin Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Hi - Thanks - I had the same issue yesterday and followed the procedure above - worked for me  ThanksGary Quote
Abraham Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 I tried the same , the front windows came down every time, I had to put the keys in the ignition to get them up again, still I had a laugh. Quote
gregers Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 if you had held the key in the opposite direction for a few seconds the windows wouldve?shouldve gone back up,its called global opening?closing. Quote
SilverBeast Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 You have to turn it to the unlock position and back to neutral within a certain time (2-3 sec from memory) you then have until the led stops flashing to operate the buttons on the remote. If I recall it flashes at a different rate when it is accepted and then resumes flashing at the faster rate ready for the next key. I believe you have to reprogram all keys each time you have to do this. Quote
