brighter01 Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 Hi, I am having a real problem with my Mk 3 Galaxy. (Other post now sorted!!) The front wipers will not work. I have tested the power from the car to the motors, and there is no problem with the supply. The rear wiper works fine, but the front don't. Today i noticed that the driver side arm will not move when pushed by hand, but the passenger side will. 1) would this be a knackered motor?2) Which fuses relays should be checked that control the motors? Thanks for any help on this subject. Quote
traff Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 its not the motor ..its a siezed spindle....to fix ..remove wiper lincage 3 bolts....with it on the floor you can see the problem....remove c shaped clip and washer then small o ring .try gently tapping top to separate..or use heat...be carefull its only cast alloy....once in bits lube with oil and refit as reverse......did my mates mk2 with the same problem just this weekend.....hope this helps Quote
brighter01 Posted March 27, 2011 Author Report Posted March 27, 2011 Hi Traff, When i have taken to motor off, the linkage seems to move freely. I will try and seperate the spindle and clean it up. If this does not work, do you know if there is a relay that controls the motors on a MK3? I have voltage coming to the motors, but no motion..... Regards, John Quote
traff Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 sorry its late...been hard at work.....if you now have removed system, disconect the motor, and plug this back into the loom....if you have a 12 volt supply here as suggested in your previous post ,the motor should turn if it wont turn on its own ,then suspect the motor .if it spins the you need to check all the linkage.....traff ps ..should be easy to check for resistance without the motor in place.
