berkut Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Hi, I recently bought a Mk3 '08 plate 2.0 TDCi Zetec with 39000 miles on it. We have had the car approximately 3 weeks, the windscreen was replaced before we bought it as it was cracked and the windscreen trims needed replaced afterwards as they damaged the retention clips when they changed the windscreen. Other than that no issues with the car until now. It has developed a problem starting. When you turn the key the engine fires then dies straight away and there is a droning noise from the drivers side front (I assume this is to do with the ABS). After a few tries the car will eventually start. Does anyone know if this is a known problem with these cars? Anyone got an idea of what the possible issue could be? The car is going in to the local Ford dealer on Wednesday to have this looked at but it would be nice to have rough idea of potential cause beforehand. I have no experience of dealing with Ford service departments as this is my first Ford car in over 20 years, but from what I have been reading on here I am nervous. They have already mentioned they may need to keep the car several days depending on parts requirements. Regards Berkut Quote
berkut Posted March 25, 2011 Author Report Posted March 25, 2011 For everyone's information. Turns out when the car was serviced before we bought it they never changed the fuel filter and they should have. Apparently it is a common issue on this car when it has reached approximately 40,000 miles. Fuel filter was changed and all is well. Berkut Quote
