Alternator Pulley Removal

I have my alternator out of the car (ford galaxy 2004 TDi ghia 1.9.)I cannot seem to remove old pulley. I have the correct tool but should I be turning clockwise or anti clockwise to remove. At the moment seems stuck fast.

first if youve allready removed it from the car ....hold it in a vice..insert the tool...hold center bolt still and turn the outer part anti clockwise...beware..its very tight..watch your hands when it finally lets go
