hi people i own an older 2.3 automatic ghia and the abs warning light is on i cant say for sure how long as it often stayed on when initialy driving off. but now ive gone into limp mode vehicle wont go higher than third gear and i note that abs light is on all the time.ihave paid to have a code read and it suggests 00297-g38 transmissionspeed sensor the abs fault code suggested nearside front sensor on hub. i have paid to have this replaced but abs light still on and im still in limp mode only cabable of 55mph at over 4500 revs ;well scary . i was told that the abs sends signals to the gearbox?viaspeed sensor hence the gearbox problem. due to the age of my car it doesnt merit main dealer and i cant afford it either. anybody out there have any help or advise other than abondon it. its driving me crazy and i cant believe an abs fault could knock out my gearbox.ive just got home from work and picked it up from garage where they have checked and topped up the transmission fluid but it still the same. mechanic suggested gearbox abs near battery? thanks for any feedback jon

when i brought my 1999 2.3 auto it had a abs sensor fault . this did not effect gearbox for me no limp mode so dont think thats your problem beleive you have more than 1 sensor on your gear box will see what your fault code throws up when i get home
