Hi I was wondering if anyone can throw some light on a problem I have with my mk ll Galaxy. The battery was flat and needed jump start. The well meaning work mate who gave me the jump did not know his poitive and negative ends of his battery and subsequently gave my car a real problem. There was some smoke and I quickly got the leads off, corrected them and the car started ok after a few seconds. Now I have the electric windows working, but no indicators, no internal lights but the outside lights are working, the central locking is out. I have checked the fuses and they seem ok and the car is driving ok. I am hoping someone knows what I've done and has some advice on how to fix it.

Thanks

Its one of those really small fuses about 1cm length 10amp can't find my hand book at mo but if you open the fuse panel its the ons on left coloum. What i do is put a voltmeter on earth then go down fuses checking for 12 either side of fuse.

RESULT!!!!!!!

I spent a while this morning and have sorted my problem

I had a broken wire at the battery terminal that caused all sorts of untold headaches

the attached picture shows the small wire that i reconnected with a red ring connector

Hi Davie,

Great work, glad you were able to find the problem and sort it out. Thanks also for taking the trouble to post your results back here, it could turn out to be invaluable to somebody else one day.

Well Done.
