FLENG Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 so ive read about re programing and so far ive gather that you can re program a second hand fob to open the car, please correct me if im wrongmy problem is i only have one bog standard key which obviously opens and start the car my question is, are the bog standard keys programmed to the immobliser?im just wondering if i get a fob and a blank cut whether it would work Quote
Mirez Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 Yes, everything is programmed to the immobiliser - even the stupid plastic little "Emergency Key" you got from factory were (or rather they could be if the dealer could be bothered) You'll need TWO individual keys to add a third to the immobiliser system, there is no way around it other then going to a dealer if you don't have the two keys. The cheaper option is to get the existing key cloned but then you still won't have two individual keys allowing you to add more, but at least you will have two independent keys. Quote
FLENG Posted March 10, 2011 Author Report Posted March 10, 2011 ok so im still abit confusedmy local locksmiths say they can re prrogram the key for Quote

Mirez Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 yes i will double check with them tomorrowwhen you say duplicate or clone key will this start the car Yes it'll still start the car, but you still can't add keys yourself and if the ecu decides not to accept the code for whatever reason then thats both keys gone.
