whyme? Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 Hi - Newbie here. 16 months ago my '57 Galaxy started displaying 'engine malfunction' on the dash along with the engine management light and loss of power above 3000RPM. Re-starting it extinguishes the engine malfunction light and normal power resumes. Within half a dozen re-starts, the engine management light goes out. The then car runs 'normal' for anything up to several weeks when the process starts again. Having read several 'threads' the problem appears to be either the MAF or DPF or combination of both. It went into a dealer 4 times under warranty without being satisfactorily resolved and ....you guessed.....it is now out of warranty. The dealers diagnosis' ranged from no fault (Lookers Ford - Sheffield AVOID) to 're-set', 'Regenerated' and 'software update' required. No-one specifically mentioned the MAF or DPF. I personally think that if it is the the DPF (Regeneration) the car isn't fit for purpose. I bought it to chauffeur my family around and my disabled parents. I didn't buy it as an airport run taxi driver or to thrash it on the motorway at high revs once a month to clear the DPF. At Quote
