Guest pugwash Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 Is the final drive part of an auto box. (V6 engine). Is the fluid level check just the gearbox or does the final drive have its own level check? Anybody help? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 v6 4x4 - bit of a rare beast. The standard auto will have integrated final drive but not sure about the 4x4 layout. Which "final drive"? - you will have some sort of transfer box to split the drive front to rear, then another final drive for the front and one for the rear, so which one? Is this the "oddity" with one of the front driveshafts passing through the sump in a special tube? Quote
Guest nimrod Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 If its the same system as fitted to later 4Motion Golfs its a haldex system which can be topped up/changed but it has to be the correct fluids! on the 4Motions they recomend the fluid is changed every 20,000miles and the filter? 40,000miles, not sure if a filter if fitted on the Galaxy? to be on the safe side I would let the dealer look at it!
