dazbo12 Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 I have been told by my local mechanic that my flywheel needs changing would this cause the car to vibrate and shake? Any help would be great...... Quote
jonbob Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 That, along with a slipping clutch were the symptoms in mine, cost a grand to do at a VW specialist. Although not sure when VW started putting DMFs in their TDi enginesJon Quote
dazbo12 Posted February 17, 2011 Author Report Posted February 17, 2011 (edited) Thanks for that jon, I have had a price off my local garage for a new DMF+cluch+slave valve for £450+£250 labour, for that price i cant go wrong... Just wondering jon if that cured the problem for you'r car?? many thank for you'r reply Darren Edited February 17, 2011 by dazbo12 Quote
jonbob Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 Yep, not had problems since apart from a split CV boot which was not noticed when they put it all back together, but at least it was changed FOC by the garage, and much to the dismay of the mechanic I pulled my 1.5 tonne caravan on the new clutch that weekend.Jon Quote
dazbo12 Posted February 19, 2011 Author Report Posted February 19, 2011 Hi there Jon sorry to bother you again, but drove my galaxy today and done about 75 miles and after about 55 miles every time I accelerated the car sounded like it was blowing and tractor like sound would the flywheel cause a sound like this whene putting the foot on the gas?? Many thanks Darren........ Quote
jonbob Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 No , the only problem I had apart from the split CV boot was some coolant leakage, there are a couple of coolant pipes which run just under the gearbox to the aux heater, as the engine has to be inclined down to change the clutch/flywheel I assume that these were disturbed at the join there. Have topped up the coolant and no probs since. Is it possible that the exhaust manifold/down pipe has been disturbed and perhaps there is a leak thereJon Quote
Guest Sockett Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Hi, I've just bought a 2000 (x) tdi Galaxy and I get a really bad judder/misfire on hard acceleration, any ideas? have you guys also had these symptoms? Been reading this forum over the weekend and I Quote
dazbo12 Posted February 23, 2011 Author Report Posted February 23, 2011 Got my car back from garage today no vibrating no metal banging together, also the missfire has gone (don't know how but it has) happy day's. All down to that DMF so hopefully no more problems. (Touch wood..........) Quote
