The galaxy glass all has a layer of black dots on the inside of the glass at the edges. Do these black dots do anything other than enhance the appearance?

I would like to remove a very small area of these to fit a small optical rain sensor. Has anyone any experience of removing any of these dots? Will they scratch off or dissolve off with cellulose thinners or are they embedded in the glass?

i'm guessing but i think it's a clever cosmetic device: you can't clean to the edge of the glass on many of the interior windows and if the black dots weren't there, a dirty smeary mess would be visible around the edge from the outside. don't know how you get them off but you can feel them on the interior glass surface so possibly they would succumb to scraping.

Dots are a cosmetic fading effect on the printed band on the edge which stops you seeing the bonding glue under the glass.

Window tinters have problems with the dots too. I stops the tink sticking fully and leaves a lighter effect around the edge.

Reading posts they literally scrape them off or use wet-n-dry.

My brother in law wrote the software that generated the pattern for those dots! :(

"Black dots, black holes. You dont see any for 3 million years and all of a sudden seven appear on your screen" Quote from Holly, Red Dwarf Series III I think.

Sorry folks this came to mind reading this thread.
