dnewpix Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Hello folks. Just thought you'd like to know about my 'Autoquake' part-ex experience with my Alhambra. I know it's not a Galaxy but I suspect the treatment you'd receive wouldn't differ much.Autoquake have recently begun part-exchange when buying a car from them. But, don't hold your hopes up. I spoke to them by phone at length about part exchanging my 10 yr old SEAT ALHAMBRA 89,000 mls, fsh, above average tidy in and out, perfect drive 1.8 20 VT, with an Quote
Mirez Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 It never fails to amaze me that people actually fall for this, its not the first story I've heard about autoquake, we-buy-any-car and most of the others and you'll also find that nearly all of their own vehicles are ex-lease cars which have been ranted daily - so do youself a favour and avoid! Did they say what the "serious faults" were? To be fair though I don't know why you even bothered going down there for a measly Quote
Talisman Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 This might make you smile, i bought an 03 plate C5 for 800 quid (fap and filters needed doing so it was a fair price.) Within a week of owning it everything shut down or refused to work. Took it to the stealers and they blew though their teeth and shook their heads. All up the bill was just shy of Quote
dnewpix Posted February 7, 2011 Author Report Posted February 7, 2011 To MirezYou are right. I am just impatient really. Once I decide I want a change it's normally terminal. I don't usually worry about a couple of hundred quid. But the whole amount...?They said that they found oil on the back of the engine so they had to mark that as "low (?) in case it is the head gasket or worse" and that they can "hear a faint noise when you press the clutch which can mean that the dual mass flywheel is on it's way out."Scarey stuff hey, and it's never dropped so much as a spot of oil on the ground. The clutch and gears are all smooth and pretty much silent. I obviusly need to get my ears tested as well as my common sense.Thanks. Quote
