coded2112 Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Hello I wonder if you can help ease my mind, my wife has a 56 plate Galaxy 2.0tdci Ghia, which has done about 34k miles. We drove to Manchester at the weekend a trip of 200 miles, stopped for about 4 hours did a further 10 miles, all of this in poring rain, when at a runabout the information screen said engine malfunction and power steering failure, as ever right in the middle of a roundabout. Engine was running but would do nothing, I switched off and it restarted. Continued for 2 more minutes then stopped at a hotel to check in, no more than 5 mins stopped, back out to start up and go on, this time it started but said engine malfunction, power steering failure and immobilliser active.... Rev counter and all dials dead. Switched off and tried to restart...nothing...egine dead and just scrolling error messages. We were lucky as we were in effect at the end of our journey, left it thinking well i can always ring the AA in the morning! In the morning it started and has run fine since!!! Why is the question, can anyone help me?? I suspect water on an electrical connection but which one and is it likely to do it again?? Many thanks sorry its so long.. Chris Quote
insider Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 There are a couple of TSBs relating to power steering failure - 48/2007 and 22/2008. Both suggest updating the Power Steering Control module software. However, you'd need to pay a Ford Dealer to do that! Quote
