Hi tell Welcome to forum, Hi I don't know what fault code 16 means but i can tell you that .The Transceiver picks up a signal from a chip inside your key ,Sometimes they get lost when you change batteries as they can easly fall out .your car will turn over for 2-5 secounds without the chip.It may even start and cut out as the ecu discovers the codes from key dont matchsome things to check key has chip.Try using spare keys to start car.Ecu Fuses see your handbook . When i had a start problem a few years back I changed ecu, pat's brown box under ecu transciever keys and all locks. It took a while to remove ecu as its behind clock the ecu had 2 security screws holding in place size 27 or 30 iirc. However it was a manual and didn't have an auto box ecu so not sure in your predicament . But i must say if the car doen't turn over at all I doub't your problem is pats related . Quote
Mirez Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Code 16 is "communications fault between PATS module and ECU" Quote

Hi CyborgThanks for you reply, For your information the engine does turnover but does no fire/ petrol pump does not prime . also the transponder is still in the remote key. Today checked all the fuses which were all fine, then dropped down the fuseboard to get access to the relays to find no 30 i was told it controls the immobiliser/fuel pump/door led, also was told it could be relay 100? i do not know what it controls other than there are two of them so i swapped them around and removed no 30, then put everything back, took a deep breath turned the ignition hey presto car started .Let the car run for about 10 minutes, turned it off and locked the car up, unlocked car put key in started no probs run for 10 mins it then cut out would not start same as before? Once again got to fuse no 30 and no 100 removed them put everything back started straight away , so went to fords ordered them cost 36.36p both. Tomorrow will be fitting them hopefully all will okay.Only now been told it could be relay 167 which apparently activates the fuel pump, well lets see tomorrow. Quote
