Stevo Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 (edited) As above really, herselfs MK2 galaxy is bleeding me dry money wise, i got a few bits in a breakers for it off a MK1 and noticed the shocks/springs were as new on the breakers MK1 2.3 petrol one, the rear shocks are rusted and the sleeves are in a bad way on our MK2 tdi, the front left is dropping under breaking so i assume its shot also  Will a MK1's shocks and springs bolt straight into the MK2?? sparky Paul Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 The shockers are the same, but originally the cars were fitted with different spring rates for the different engine, gearbox and equipment combinations. However, aftermarket coil spring suppliers seem to go for a one-size-fits-all strategy, so if the springs look new there's a good chance they will be suitable. Factory fit coil springs can be identified by coloured bands which identify the strength of the spring. Quote
