GaryM Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 You can tell I'm the newbie... The parking sensor system is not working. Upon engaging reverse gear I get one quiteish beep and one long louder one and then the noise stops and the light continues to flash. Reading a few posts here it looks as though a failure of one of the transmitters or recievers results in a system shutdown? Sensible I guess. Where does the control box live? Found the rear speaker but not the front. Anyone found a way of testing the sensors? Quote
Another?Maybe! Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 HI GaryM... this is my first reply as am new boy! My parking sensors stopped working after Ford dealer repaired my non-working rear window washer and I collected my car back from them! Reason was (they said), washer pump is located at front nearside over the parking sensor module and leak from this corroded the module... was 'just coincidence' it happened whilst they had Galaxy in for washer repair. Anyway, after several attempts they managed to restore beepers to original working and sounds. As I said, module is somewhere under washer bottle in front nearside wing. Rear beepers are in rear corners of the body, front beeper under passenger seat (where, incidently, is also located the inertia fuel cut-off switch, not under driver's seat although it would be on left-hand drives!) The distance sensor beepers drove me mad when I first had the car, now I wouldn't be without them as they make parking so easy (and lazy!) Cheers. PeterR Quote
Guest nimrod Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 module is somewhere under washer bottle in front nearside wing The TIS shows the module as located under the front passenger seat, the speakers are located under the front passenger seat and behind the rear passenger side light access panel, its more likely to be the connectors for the parking sensor on that side of the car that got damp and corroded under the washer bottle Quote
GaryM Posted May 9, 2004 Author Report Posted May 9, 2004 Sussed it thanks to all here and a few of the posts. Running a little blind as I do not have the users handbook but one of the posts mentioned the lack of beeps being down to a faulty sensor. Checking them one by one found the cuprit. The front passenger side had taken a knock sometime and broke the Pizeo transducer away from the the rest of the sensor unit. Exchanged it with one from a friends Galaxy and it it works a treat. So need to find a place to order a new ultrasonic sender unit. CheersGary Quote
Guest Long Tone Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 THIS WAS A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE! THREE TRIPS TO MY FORD DEALER WITHOUT PARKING SENSORS HAD THEM REALLY FLUMMOXED. THEIR VEHICLE ELECTRICIAN HAD SEEN THEM FAIL BEFORE, BUT COULD NOT CURE THE FAULT ON MY GALAXY - EVEN AFTER A WHOLE AFTERNOON ON HIS MOBILE PHONE TO FORD, WITH HIM FOLLOWING STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS! ALL MAJOR COMPONENTS IN THE SYSTEM WERE REPLACED DURING THIS PROCESS, AND THE GUY WORKED LIKE A HERO. HOWEVER, IN THE END IT NEEDED A SPECIALIST ENGINEER FROM FORD, WHO FOUND AN INTERMITTENT FAULT IN THE WIRING LOOM, RIGHT UP UNDER THE DASH. ALL HAS BEEN HUNKY-DORY SINCE THAT WAS SORTED. Quote
