GT4THUG Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 it could be the drainage channels from teh roof to the lower arches that have munged up.. along with the possibility of the sunroof drainage holes.. its a case of strip back the plastics and de mung / find the drainage blockage... check teh a pillar for water ingress as mine came thru from there first ! terryb Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 it could be the drainage channels from teh roof to the lower arches that have munged up.. along with the possibility of the sunroof drainage holes.. its a case of strip back the plastics and de mung / find the drainage blockage... check teh a pillar for water ingress as mine came thru from there first !hi my mk1 would fill up with water on pass side it turned out it was the sunroof drainpipe was disconnected and was also about an inch to short i bridged the gap with a piece of hosepipe and 2 jubille clips, to get to it pull off the rubber door seal, then remove the sunvisor and grab handle you should then be able to pull down the headlining to check it ,hope this helps good luck. Quote
billywizzo Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Also check that your windscreen has not become unstuck from the frame (they are glued in place). My old MK1 was leaking into passenger side and it was the windscreen leaking on that side.Took me ages to find it but a new screen fixed it.Bill Quote
grayST24 Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 Mine is pouring in at the clock.. I'll need to strip back the rooflining and take a look for this pipeThanks for that info Quote
grayST24 Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Ok, so stripped back the headlining to find the drivers side drainage pipe had come off. so did the same as Terry, cleaned them out and refitted.. No joy it turns out my whole sunroof tray is full of hes and letting water in all over the place. Can't decide if I will use the sunroof enough to go to all the hassle of stripping it all out to replace, I might just tigerseal the sunroof up for life Quote
GT4THUG Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 My replacement windscreen by Autoglass, had miss beaded and started a similar, which the re install fixed, but all the original mung started the wet carpets... an update from that is once fixed the pipes blocked again and the front left pipe had to be blocked off as it was in the roof from the sunroof drain that only showed after heavy rain and on the unlevel drive.. it now has the 3 other drain holes ( and the 2 rearwards ones astonish and worry me if they leak as they run the entire length to the back !) i did the jug of water and follow the leaks down each drain to see which one actually leaks.. crude but its all sorted now Quote
