calvinsnetwork Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 Hello Everyone, Thanks first of all to all you, especially Mirez, who has helped so much during these past few days.I've successfully managed to install my new non-oem sensors, parking module and LED display. My Question is, the old broken Parking Sensor Module under the passenger seat.Is it possible to remove it? and How do I do it? I've been told that I will get a shock if I put my hands near it according to Sandicliffe, is this true? Also, I have front sensors as well (I haven't installed yet as it was the back which I needed them for.) But when I go into first gear, it turns off,If I wanted it to stay on until I reach that 15mph limit like my old sensors, do I need to use the electrical source from under the passenger seat?Does it have some kind of relay? Thanks,Calvin Quote
Mirez Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 Complete tosh, its a 12V system and low current to boot - you could unplug it with the system active and beeping and you'd be perfectly safe from any electrical shocks (assuming thats what he meant). The car has a cable that runs around the car called the VSS (or gala for VW) which is basically a pulsed signal that indicates vehicle speed, VAG modules (such as the parking system) simply "listen" to that signal to work out the vehicle speed and thats why it turns off at 15mph. There is no simple On/Off wire you can tap into to gain that function on your new system if you remove the existing setup, all I can think of doing at the moment is to relay off the LED output for the warning light (so you'll need to cap it as it'll be flashing) and remove the sounders from the car to stop the beeps.
