Hi all,

came home from work and my wifes standing beside the car saying

that the dash lights are still on so i looked an yes they were still on

althogh the ignition was off and so was the light switch and keys were in

her hand ???

so i had a little look and the rear number plate lights were also on weird

no head lights or rear lights just the dash and number plate lights

could anyone shed some light on this ???

oh i have an 02 reg galaxy 1.9 tdi

Dodgy lightswitch is my first suspect. Few will have noticed that if you turn on the lights very very slowly in a place you can see a reflection of the parking lights, the instrument/dash lights come on first, then the parking lights then headlights. I have no idea which set the number plate comes on with though.

Have a fiddle with the switch and check it goes full travel when turning the lights off.

thanks for the reply

had a fiddle with the switch seems fine knocks the lights on and off as usual

apart from the two lights mensioned :/

also had a play with the fuses pulling out fuse No 32 turns off the lights

and with the fuse out when you turn on the lights as normal all works fine

lights come on along with the dash lights plus car starts and runs fine

but i'm sure that fuse is somthing to do with engine managment so i'm going

to take it out for a drive see what happens lol

Cheers

F28 is the fuse for the number plate lamps and also the dash illumination, since F32 has no feed to that circuit then then that would be my guess as well :18:

Hey you guys a great opened the boot hatch back what ever lol

and the lights went out

closed the door and they stayed off for 2 min and flickerd

back on so will have to investigate my back wiring harness when there

is a bit more light

Thanks once again
