rookie123 Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Hello all - and thanks in advance for any advice given. My Alhambra remote locking has started acting up. The car won't unlock using the remote button from outside the car, but if you are inside the car and try it - it works!!(?)Even yesterday it was working fine, tried it today and the above is now happening. Using the key in the door is frightening at the moment as this is the only working key I have for the car and I am in frosty Scotland!!! My question is what is the likely cause?Am I looking at a new battery in the fob or could this be more sinister? Thanks. Quote
Mirez Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 If its working but only short range then its highly likely to be as simple as the battery going flat - should be a nice easy fix! Quote
Mirez Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 If not door wiringWink Door wirings unlikely, the transceiver is down in the footwell and not in the door so even if the wiring was degraded or brokwn then communications between the remote and base wouldn't be effected. Quote
rookie123 Posted January 11, 2011 Author Report Posted January 11, 2011 Thanks for the replies. Small update - gave the key a "shake" before leaving work today and it is now working!!! I will open it up and replace the batteries anyway, but it sounds like there is something not making proper contact inside the key or the battery is dying. Thanks again. Quote
