seveer Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 Hi, Both the drivers and passenger door locks have failed on my Mk1 Galaxy(To be honest, the passenger lock hasn't worked for quite sometime)so we are having to use the tailgate to unlock the car. I'm going to have a go at getting to the lock on the passenger door this weekend to see if I can see what has failed and I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and could give me a few pointers / do's & don'ts before I take the door apart. Cheers Quote
bfc1001 Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 might be easier to try and get a second hand fob off e bay and try and get the remote central locking working again hence no need to use the locks..... Quote
Simon_H Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 May be worth having a quick look at the wiring running through the rubber gaiters between door & body, it's well known for the wires to break which can cause all sorts of puzzling electrical antics with doors, windows etc. When I checked mine recently (window opening buttons not working, elec windows opening on their own when car locked etc) I found several broken wires in every door gaiter + the tailgate gaiter. I'm just amazed that most things were still working! Look in the FAQs pinned at the top of this forum for info on how to check the wiring & how to mend it if broken. Will only take 10 mins per door to have a look, before you get into the painful business of pulling the door apart. Quote
