George106 Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Hi everyone, I am trying to find out what can cause loud vibration noise (like plastic against metal) at revs around 1200 - 1600 in or out of gear. I would probably condemn plastic tube from headlight to airbox inlet which is hidden in the wing and may got loose. If I press on the wing from outside, noise change a bit as well as if I wiggle with airbox itself. Does anyone had/have this problem and how could be this solved? ThanksGeorge Quote
daddyfixit Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 i too have this noise, exactly 1800 rpm? only since we had that horrendous snow for a week or so???? i checked the airbox today and it does seem loose? rattles about a bit too? but thats not the noise i heard Quote

Mine appeared after couple of hours of driving @ low temperatures (-10deg)and never stopped since. I may also have to remove driver side headlamp and inspect hose in the wing. George Quote
seatkid Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Could be airbox not seated properly (open it up - remove airfilter and pull out lower section - you will see the grommets its supposed to fit in. Lots of flimsy plastic in and around the engine bay. I find the various plastic trim fitted in the lower bumper area (e.g. foglights) all seem to be a loose fit and prone to rattling. Requires someone to prod around with engine running and held by someone else at the offending revs. Fix by refitting properly or using combination of sticky back foam tape or duct tape. Quote
George106 Posted January 5, 2011 Author Report Posted January 5, 2011 Right got fed up with the noise, removed o/s headlamp and found airbox plastic tube loose on both ends. Pushed it back in rubber grommets and hopefully it' sorted. George Quote
