just what you need at christmas is for your handbrake to brake!!! the release button on my galaxy has just stopped releasing and Im not sure if this is gonna be another common fault in the future? Its a 56 plate 1.8tdilx with 69,000 miles on it. In the handbrake mechanism there is a tiny cable that works the release mechanism and this has snapped but the place its snapped in is where it would be chafing as the button is pressed over time, you cannot buy just the cable you can get the handle and button seperate for around

Sorry to hear that mate, something to look out for with mine. I have a 56 plate galaxy with a slack handbrake. If you don't mind me asking, how do you tighten it up.

you have to have car over a pit or in the air and the adjusting bolt is behind the exhaust heat shield just below where the handbrake sits in the car about a foot towards the back
