chromedome Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) Are KUHMO ECSTA SPT KU31 tyres any good. Seem to have good reviews and are availabe in 215/55 W16 97 XL. My local tyre fitter inadvertantly fitted 93 rated tyres and has agreed to replace them foc. The Goodyear 93's were £105 each and the Kuhmo £79 each so I will get a refund as well. I know there are many discussions about tyre loadings on the forum but any information you may have would be most welcome. Edit: I understand that the new MK3 Galaxy is coming with these tyres fitted from new. Edited December 7, 2010 by chromedome Quote

sotal Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 I have Kumho Ecsta Sports fitted on the front of the galaxy. They've only been on 6 months (3000 miles) and barely show any wear so far. Mine were Quote
Mirez Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Also running with Kumho Ecsta Sports, 225/50/17's - been fine so far in 12K, a good midrange tyre. Quote
chromedome Posted December 8, 2010 Author Report Posted December 8, 2010 Thanks for the replies. I'll go for the Kumhos as I only do about 6,000 miles a year, car has now done 39,000. My local Ford dealer keeps ringing me asking if I want to trade it!! The tyre guy was telling me that reinforced/extra load tyres start at 89 rating. I thought that was doubtful though. Quote
chromedome Posted December 8, 2010 Author Report Posted December 8, 2010 My neighbour has a brand new Kia 4 x 4 and it has Kumho tyres on it. Quote
sparky Paul Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 The tyre guy was telling me that reinforced/extra load tyres start at 89 rating. I thought that was doubtful though. Depends on tyre size. All RF/XL tyres have a load index 2-4 higher than the standard tyre rating for a given tyre size. For example, if a standard tyre in a particular size is 85 rated, a RF tyre of the same size should be 89 rated. In 215/55R16, all standard tyes are 93 rated, RF/XL are 95-97. Quote
