A Krisis Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 Hi I am looking to buy a second hand Galaxy. Howd o I know whether it is a 115 or 130 version and which version is the best to buy? Thanks A Krisis :( Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 Safest way to check is with the engine number - try a search as soemone has previously posted a list of codes and the engines they refer to. The 130 is better (only available with manual transmission though) but there have been some complaints that it vibrates more than the 115. There is little to chose between the 115 and 130, they both develop the same amount of torque at the same speed. It's just the bhp output that differs - although the 130, being newer technology, offers slightly better fuel comsumption despite being more powerful! Quote
Dave-G Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 :o I would steer cleer of automatics, and will never have another. In addition to total failure/replacement. It seems impossible to acheive 30mpg. Although I'm sure SOMEBODY here will point out that they can do better  The replacement also seems to have different gear ratio's, and returning to town driving from motorway travel sees it remain in too low a gear for too long, after stopping briefly at traffic lights The I must say-immense driving pleasure is certainly paid for......BIG TIME! (I've had two manuals prior to my current gal) Quote

Dave-G Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 heh: translation...well ok I was a little OTT   But i have to be on very good behavior to exceed an average 30mpg,(I rarely go out of town) and pay very dearly in terms of fuel consumption for the pleasure of the automatic gearbox Quote
johnb80 Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 I have to disagree re the Auto, mines always above 40mpg and on a run has touched the mid 50's. The box is very smooth always ready to change up when being gentle with the loud pedal and gets into 5th at about 33mph. On the open road it changes down at the blink of an eyelid as and when required for overtaking. Don't go manual you really would regret it. Regards - JB Quote
