BOGGY Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 Hi, My central locking will no longer work from the two button key. I have done the old "turn key in doorlock three times til the light on the door comes on, then hold down lock and press unlock three times" method several times in the past and has always worked. But now when I do it the led on the door just stays lit (still goes off after about 10 seconds)instead of flashing, but the led on the key still flashes ok so I think the batteries must still be ok (although I have not changed them) so the remote does not now work. I can still lock manually using the door lock. I would be grateful for suggestions. Thanks. Quote
dbc Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 I had exactly the same. It's the transmitter in the key. Just pick us a new one off the bay, swap the inside into your key and do the reprograming. Cost me less than 20 quid and it works from miles away with the new one. Can't believe I put us with it for so long as it was such a simple fix.... Quote
BOGGY Posted November 28, 2010 Author Report Posted November 28, 2010 Great, thanks for that I will try it. Do you reprogramme using the same method i.e turn key in lock three times etc etc?. I assume it does not cause any problems with starting due to having a new transmitter? Quote
dbc Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Yes same method. Re the transponder that's just a little black chip that sits inside the key. Just leave that and swap the bit with buttons on. Make sure you buy a replacement with the same make and frequency transmitter. It's written on the key Quote
BOGGY Posted December 7, 2010 Author Report Posted December 7, 2010 Brilliant. Thanks for the advice DBC, as you said I managed to find someone selling the correct fob on Ebay and it works a treat. Cheers. Now it looks like I've got to do the aux heater glow plug job and the sticky wipers job which are all well covered on this site. The pleasures of owning a Galaxy eh???? Quote
dbc Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Funny isn't it. It works so well that I was overly pleased about it! Even spent a while seeing how far it works from.....sad but after having to use the key with a kid in one arm and shopping in the other it really makes a difference.....! Quote
