davewill Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Guys I want to take out the front 2 seats to give them a damn good clean, question is, is it an easy job or not? (Mkll 2006 model zetec) I have a socket set, and can do basic stuff so not too woried about undoing bolts etc They are not heated seats, and do not have DVD screens and are not rotating seats, so i assume this makes it easier If anyone has pictures of bolts to remove etc, that would be useful Many Thanks Dave Quote
cyborg Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Very easy to remove you will need 13mm socket,Can be nightmare to put back as bolts will thread if you dont have chair straight.. Best leave chair insitu get a can of carpet cleaner and big towel spray with half can per chair dont be shy! then use steam cleaner and towel .Worst case unzip covers from chairs. Quote
chromedome Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Does the Zetec model have air bags in the side of the seats? If so you may have to disconnect the battery so they don't activate, make sure you have the radio code as well. Don't get water in them if fitted. Quote

Yes they do have air bags in the side Is it a necessity then to remove the battery, or is it that the airbag just may deploy?? Quote
Mirez Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Remove them, its easier (and warmer) then faffing about with them in situ if they are that grubby. Slide the seat all the way to the front, remove the two 13mm bolts at the back of the tracks. Slide the seat all the way to the back, remove the two bolts at the front of the tracks - lift the front so the seat pivots on the rear (preferably get some help here so it won't come down on your head!). Open the yellow clasp and undo the connector - remove the seat from the car.

Re fittings the same, just grease the threads of the bolts prior to fitting and get all 4 in before tightening them up.

Quote
