perkypig Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 Hello I took my car into garage for MOT and needed new brake pipes and linkages on front also few other bits. Got car out and next morning noticed ABS warning light so back to garage put on the machine said faulty ABS sensor drivers side so had new one got back and fine on drive home then driving next day and it comes back on again. So back to garage and they have said the ring on drive shaft is split/ broken so I need a new driveshaft quoted me Quote
nejones Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 The ABS ring is part of the cv joint. These can be bought and swopped independently of the complete driveshaft. Quote
sparky Paul Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 (edited) Even better still, you can buy the ABS ring separately from the CV joint. If you are careful, you can replace it by undoing the driveshaft end bolt and bottom ball joint and removing the driveshaft from the hub end only. Renew the driveshaft end bolt on reassembly. Check out fleabay for a few sellers of these ABS rings. Edited November 17, 2010 by sparky Paul Quote

rover4002 Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Regards the reluctor ring fitting on the front cv ;I read the preceeding words of wisdom and proceeded to change the offside reluctor ring on a 98 diesel,as someone wrotr; the bottom joint does not need splitting, but full lock on the steering is required to move the shaft out of position to get the ring to slip over, persevere with it if necessary raise the mcpherson up and down while the body of the car is raised to find a loosest position. The ring can be found on ebay for a tenner plus Quote
