my02dlm Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 My Galaxy has a intermittant Parking sensor issue. Front and rear sensors work OK when it's been raining but when it dries out I get the long tone of doom and flashing switch error. I can hear each sensor ticking at all times so I'm ruling out the sensors.I've tried watering the rear sensors in case it's the rear loom.I've been under the bonnet recently trying to fix a persistant water leak into the cabin...(don't start me on that thread)...and I wondered where the front sensor loom was located. Is there a chance I've disturbed a connection? Any ideas? Regards Darren (2003 Galaxy Zetec 1.9tdi) Quote
Mirez Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Hi Darren, a ticking sound from the sensor is only a basic indication that its working so you can't rule them out based just on that. The front parking loom runs in a channel on the front bumper and around to the nearside wing, its unlikely you've managed to disturb it as its not readily accessible without removing bits of bumper. kevinp72 Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 Hi Darren, The front parking sensor 'black box' is mounted on the floor under the passenger seat. If, like me, you have had a water leak in the passenger footwell (a common occurrence and well talked about here), it may be that your electronics are wet.If you are lucky, they can be dried out. I re-mounted my unit on spacers in case of another flood!I'm not sure where the rear sensor 'black box' is though. Kev Quote
Mirez Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 Kev its one and the same, the only difference is the sounder for the rears is mounted behind the nearside trim panel in the boot and the front sounders down there with the control unit. Quote

Thanks for th info. I've checked the control box under the seat and it's dry. My case seems to be the reverse to the thread on here. My sensors only work in the wet!!. Loom examination time me thinks. Rear first as the fron one is well shielded. Nice job for a winters day but it's amazing how much you rely on the sensors.RegardsDarren Quote
