Guest Elwood Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 On a trip to our local dog walking place, i noticed the light in the temp guage flashing like a trooper but the temp guage red normal. it hasn't done this again on two futher trips today, should i worry about this? what does it mean anyway, surley it should only flash if the temp's abnormal. Guest nimrod Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 surley it should only flash if the temp's abnormal. And to quote a line from the film Airplane stop calling me Shirley :( as Ivor suggests check the coolant leval and the condition of the coolant level switches plug and cables, being where it is, it's rather prone to getting a bit damp if you spill any coolant while topping up the bottle! the contacts in the plug may be a bit corroded and causing a dodgy connection leading to warning lamp flashing? fionnmacz Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 as ivor says, its the coolant level low indicator when it flashes. mine did this (see coolant leak post about 6 weeks ago) and it was a rear heater valve leak half way down the vehicle underside on the nearside under the rear passenger door area. i was confused because there was no leak from the engine area. simple to replace, part is about Quote
Guest Murdock Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 Reading the owners manual (always the last resort for a man) I came across the possible explanation for a flashing light as the cooling fan not operating correctly. This may only apply to the Sharan but it's worth checking. Quote
Guest Elwood Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 it was the coolent low level light, appears we have a leak.... comes from the plastic guard under the engine, no idea why but back to the dealer....... ho hum? Quote
