I am about to order the above car with the 2l diesel and I am wondering if the Powershift gearbox is a worthy addition?

Im waiting to take delivery of a new 2.0 TDCi Titanium with the powershift box and have to say yes .

 

Its much nicer than previous Autoboxes in Galaxys , is good to drive , pretty fast and supposed to be pretty good economy wise.

 

Be prepared for a very long wait though if you are ordering new.....In July I was given a 12 week delivery time , but because of the demand for Galaxy and SMax 2.0 powershifts , they simply cant meet demand and delivery time has now been increased to 20 weeks . My dealer informed me that Ford were no longer taking orders for powershifts until they cleared the current backlog of orders.

IVE HAD THE TITANIUM X FOR A MONTH NOW WITH THE POWERSHIFT.

ITS PERFECT THE POWER COMES THROUGH WELL AND THE SPORTS MODE GETS YOU MOVING FAST.

THERE IS NO LAG WHEN CHANGING GEAR AND IVE NOW DONE 1500 MILES AND WOULDNT WANT TO CHANGE IT, ITS THE BEST AUTO IVE HAD.

ALSO THE PARKSIDE GREEN IS NICER THAN THE BROCHURE SHOWS IN REAL LIFE, JUST A SHAME THERE IS A LONG WAIT TO GET THE CARS.

I ORDERD MINE ON THE DAY THAT THEY WHERE RELEASED WAY BACK IN APRIL.

HOPE THIS HELPS AND IF YOU NEED TO KNOW ANYTHING ELSE JUST ASK.

Thanks for the replies and I ordered a Titanium X with the Powershift box which was made last week and the garage are waiting for it to be delivered. I should pick it up just after Xmas which will be a nice pressy,

I got my Titanium X, 163 diesel, PowerShift a week ago and have done just over 500 miles of mixed driving. The PowerShift is great but the fuel consumption is pretty awful - averaging just 32mpg. Whilst cruising at 80 on the M40 it manage to average 35mpg. Hopefully it'll loosen up. As for the Powershift, it's very smooth and I've experienced any of the issues others have found with lag etc. Early days but very pleased.

I'm considering this to replace my 2002 115 bhp Galaxy 1.9tdi Ghia whixh has now covered 125,000 miles from new. About the most unreliable car I have ever owned(?) though I cannot blame Ford as it is nothing more than a VW/Audi product. Mind you I've never had AC or DMF problems (yet).

I know why Ford ditched the MarkII version even though the Ford badged version was more reliable than the VW badged version.

 

Any comments as to gearbox/ DMF reliability. Assuming it has a DMF.

 

Any other comments appreciated.

 

Can I read that the lack of activity in the MarkIII forum indictes that this version is reliable?

at the moment 'maybe' but as these cars are now finding 2nd hand homes no doubt it will become a lot more active.
