funkyds Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 I all, i had a message appear on the dash, saying stop lamp failure, so i bought a new one, replaced the faulty one, and its still not working, any ideas what this could be that is causing the fault. was working fine before, is there a fuse anywhere for this. thanks in advance Quote
bingo nightly Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 You really need to tell us what model you are driving for specific advice.Have you got any brake lights working at all or has just one side gone? If its just the one side then check the bulb holder for corrosion and bulb security, and try another bulb. Check for power to the bulb holder. If you have no brake lights at all then its likely to be the switch on the pedal which is a common fault. Check for power to the switch. Fuse box for mk1 is in front of your right knee when in the drivers seat and fuses are marked, Couldn't say about other models. Quote
funkyds Posted November 1, 2010 Author Report Posted November 1, 2010 I have a 2006 Ghia mark 3 Galaxy, i have the high level brake light working and the O/S working, just the near side thats out. Wondered if there is a fuse for it. Quote
funkyds Posted November 1, 2010 Author Report Posted November 1, 2010 i think i have found the fault, the replacement bulb pins at the bottom is different to the one i took out. the replacement has 2 pins on the bottom but the faulty bulb has 1 pin dead centre on bottom, am sure this is what it is, well will just have to wait till tomorrow to find out. Whiteske Posted November 12, 2012 Report Posted November 12, 2012 Hi, sorry for reviving an old thread, how did you get the bulb out !!!!???! I can't seem to figure it.. Any help would be greatfully received Quote
GaryM Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 Open the side hatchInsert you hand back towards the light assyYou will find two long Black wing nuts, undo and slide of long shaftsLamp assy is now loose and can be removed taken out by sliding away from bodyThen it is a philips scew or two to release the lamp plate. When replacing the lamp check plate as just being galvanised is subject to corrosion Quote
