MrT Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 The bonnet on my car being black is starting to spoil the appearance of my car due the frequent pebble dashing it receives from the roads. Nothing has penetrated to the metal, but there are many (20+) pinholes, some to the white primer and about three slightly larger (3mmx3mm) chips. Has anyone on the forum had experience of the quality of work and costs involved in either having the bonnet totally resprayed or being repaired by a company like Chipsaway? Quote
johnb80 Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 I've had several jobs done by chipsaway. The first was a metallic green Range Rover and autowindscreens mamanged to scratch and dent the scuttle whilst replacing the windscreen (morons). Chipsaway did a perfect job on a very awkward area 10 out of 10The second job was on a metallic green garanada scorpio, small stone chips and a scratch it was a complete mess, so bad I refused to pay even though they threatened court action, I sent them a counterclaim for about double what they were going for 0 out of 10The third job (done at the same time as the second job) was to repair a badly ripped leather door skin. This was beyond my wildest dreams, invisible repair, unbeleivable 11 out of 10 !!Would I use them again ? I really don't know, depends on the age and condition of the vehicle, more than 2 years old maybe yes, Regards - JB Quote
Guest chrisH Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 I cant comment on anybody doing repairs but what i can say is that the fornt of my Gal has so many chips in it i need a complete front end respray. The bonnet, grill section and bumper are all pitted. The windscreen also seems to attrack the stones. I had it replaced due to cracks and chips and the following day gues what, another chip. Are stones attracted to windcreens due to some unknown magnetic force. If anybody out there is doing some scientific experiments along these lines feel free to drop me a line as i think my car is perfect for experimenting on. :P :P Quote
