:P I have replaced the front near-side(uk) parking lamp 3 times in 4 months ;)

Each time it's because it got significantly dimmer than the other side, and on inspection the bulb has become blackened

Has anybody else had this problem? I feel tempted to check the voltage on each side ;)

Double check the security of everything and things like wheel balance. Vibration can cause this also the quality of the replacement bulbs, do both at the same time and with the same make of bulb if they both go black a) you wont know the difference and  you know its crappy bulbs. #8o)

Are you leaving side light on with indicator stalk in left position? (switches left side park on with ignition off)

If not change supplier. Overvolts not possible.

Thanks guy's, n/s bulbs are always the same (from a pack of ten) I usually park with traffic flow,so use the off-side park lamp more than t'other

I had a similar saga with my brake light bulbs, replacing them every couple of months. When I finally had the sense to read the instructions I realised they were halogen bulbs and I had been fitting them with bare hands, shortening their life.

Halogen bulbs don't fail due to handling with bare hands, the light output CAN be reduced because of oil from your hands burning onto the glass thats all.
