Check for air leaks /loose pipes particularly the vacuum pipework which should be connected to the inlet manifold somewhere. Also check the main air intake pipework for leaks (between MAF sensor and throttle body)

Another possibility is throttle body may require cleaning.

Hi fitze,

Welcome to forum,

When you say revs are between 750-1000 I take it you mean the engine is hunting? so its a process of elimination!

Try some basic checks on the coil its the most common of vr6 engine problems.

If the coil isn't the problem finding the problem is made alot easier if you buy a diagnostic lead which goes into a usb port something like this

its a really strange problem , just as im slowing down basically to a crawl or have stopped completely the engine just cuts out, very embarrasing with a car full of kids at a junction

yes thats what it is, its had a full electrical diagnostic done on it and picked no errors, any ideas to what the fault could be? air filter box?

Somebody posted about this. His cure was to disconnect the battery for a minute(check you have the radio security code first!) and then reconnect it. This resets the "learnt" values in the ECU. Worth a go.
