Guest Murdock Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 Is the 2.0 petrol engine in the Gal a ford one or a VW? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 Ford 2.0litre engine fitted to Galaxy, VW 2.0litre engine (as per Golf etc) in the Sharan and Alhambra. All 2.8 litre V6s are made by VW as are all the diesel engines. Quote
Guest nimrod Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 And dont forget the oddity that is the Ford 2.3 petrol Quote
Denis Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Out of interest, is the 2.0 engine the DOHC 8 valve the Sierra and Granada used to have? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Yes, I've been "told off" about this before having guessed that it was 16v due to DOHC, but it is DOHC with only 8 valves! Quote
Guest Murdock Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Eccept Transit engines were a lower compression than the car engines as indicated by the LC part of their engine code, but I digress. What else is different between the makes apart from the trim options. As far as I can see the only differance was the engines. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 Ford and VW/Seat petrol versions will have different gearboxes too.Ford petrol engined versions have fuel cut-off inertia switch under front passenger seat, VW and Seat apparently do not fit this device (unless anyone knows better....). This means that there must be some electrical differences if nothing else. Quote
Guest kev140766 Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 A mate of mine has a '97 Sharan TDI. The gearbox went wrong ( something about it not going into gear and crunching.) Got it fixed for Quote
