n.peckdd Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Hello All, My 1999 2.3 recently suffered a split rear break line & loss of fluid. I've replaced the pipes and bleed the system but the ABS light remains on on the dash.I've cleaned and tested the sensors. One of which was not giving a resistance reading..........therefore I replaced it. However the ABS light remains on. Do I have to use VAGCOM to re-set the error or activate a ABS pump brake bleed procedure? Your input would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance. Quote
chromedome Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Have you driven the car above 20mph since doing the as this should reset the system. Also check the ABS rings on the CV joints as they are known to break. Quote

n.peckdd Posted October 2, 2010 Author Report Posted October 2, 2010 Thanks for the rapid response. I have checked and cleaned the ABS rings....All Ok. I had driven the car on the local estate, but not gone above 20mph. I have now done this and system has now reset..............Many Thanks. Much appreciated. Quote
Mirez Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Vagcom can activate the ABS pump bleed procedure and its quite possible you will need to do that if you've had a complete loss of fluid from one set of lines. It'll also tell you what the cause of the light being on is - some errors do need to be reset after correction so you may well find its as simple as that. Quote
