PaulW Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 I have the 225/50/17 tyres on an 08 Gia. We all know the handbook says you can't fit snow chains but pleanty of Galaxy's make it to the Alps each year. So is there an owner(s) out there who can report that they have successfully fitted chains to this wheel size and what make/model chain that was. Just to amuse I took my previous MKII last year with a pair of Klack & Go Quattro's which were needed 'in anger' to get us down the mountain. Anyway at some point they fell off (didn't realise for a bit) but could only keep going (unable to stop, turn round and climb up hill) and somehow slithered down to the motorway leaving Quote
IDH Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Hi,I have an 04 Mark 2 and regularly head down to the Alps - i can recommend these from experience and used them for the past few years www.autosock.co.ukThey are very easy to put on and very good even in light & deep snow. I have just invested in some Nokian WRG2 tyres for this years trip as my Michelins were next to useless on anything other than wet / dry tarmac! The Nokians have good reviews and good for both Winter & Summer driving. Cheers Quote
