spins Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 hi all, have another problem with my 19TDI.lol.when driving car sometimes loses power.if i turn the engine off and restart it ok again.i have been told there is a sender unit to the turbo which could be playing up.Anyone got any clue? is yours the 115bhp tdi? the symptoms sound like overboost or underboost, you need to code read the car as it will tell you which it is!, the vanes on the turbo tend to stick and you get one or the other, it happens when you accelerate hard for 7 or 8 seconds the ecu has requested a set amount of boost pressure and the turbo is providing a different amount and the ecu shuts it down thinking its faulty, the ign off and on clears the fault and resets so if your having problems accelerate for say 5 or 6 seconds then ease of the pedal then put it back on to prevent the limp mode until you get it sorted!, some people have used innotec turbo cleaning system which ha soffered a temp cure to this, but when mine was doing it the turbo was whistling and well worn so i opted to replace! :angry2: Quote

Mine was doing the same one minit power then no power it turned out to be the "turbo boost pressure valve" 2 diagnostic tests didnt reveal any problems this can happen at times... i took the sensor of and blasted it with wd40 to clean out the gunge, put it back on and drove the car for a mile or so and it was perfect but it did slowly lose power again....new part orderd of ebay Quote
