smon67 Posted September 18, 2010 Report Posted September 18, 2010 Hello all, my first post here so be gentle,,,,lol Anyway my elderly neighbour has a older galaxy, she bought it a few months back on a bit of a whim in the middle of the night, I know bad start,,,,lolWell she relies on it as the only transport available, its had quite a few probs in the few months shes had it, the garage she was going to have been ripping her off as far as I can see, anyway to the problem in hand,,,,,,,,,,, Its a N reg, think thats 1995????? dont shot me if Im wrong,,,,lol, v6 2.8l, manual gearbox.last night she drove home from work, saying that it made very strange noises, I had a look earlier today saw that that gator on the passenger side of the steering rack was torn & that steering fluid was coming out at a rapid rate, as she "needs" this car I told her that replacement rack would be the way to go, or new car, that resealing the rack probly would be only a temp measure. Anyway, any problems or hints I should be aware of befor changing the rack?Im no mechanic, but do all my own repairs if I can, cant warrant garage prices,,,,lol yours hopefullysimon Quote
nicebutdim Posted September 18, 2010 Report Posted September 18, 2010 Get a Haynes manual. It gives a step by step run of it, I've had a look in mine and it's bit of a job, as it's located above the front subframe. The Galaxys are great for the easiest jobs being made hard!! Quote
